Session | 7. SNRs as probes and drivers of galaxy structure |
1st Abstract | Confronted by the increasing quantity and quality of observational data across the electromagnetic spectrum as well as our gradually improving knowledge on the physics of collisionless shocks, any reasonable model of SNR emission nowadays has to satisfy a more and more stringent set of observational constraints and physical criteria. In this talk, I will review the current status of SNR broadband models and highlight a few selected recent developments that are crucial in understanding the interaction of SNRs with their surrounding Galactic environments. If time allows, I will briefly introduce the exciting science for SNRs from the highly anticipated next-generation X-ray space telescope ASTRO-H (launched and in-operation by the date of this talk) and the next state-of-the-art IACT – the Cherenkov Telescope Array. |
